After two amazing years of the Phoenix Suns dominating the league and putting themselves on notice, we are witnessing a flashback to the horrific 10-year span where we were the laughing stock of the NBA.
As of January 19th, the Suns are currently 12th in the west with a 21-24 record. This team looks beyond atrocious. To give them the benefit of the doubt, this team is the most hurt team in the NBA.
With Cameron Johnson coming back against the Nets on January 19th, they are still missing Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Cameron Payne, Landry Shamet, all due to injury. To make it worse, Jae Crowder is being a bitch for not wanting to play; he wants sTaRtEr’s minutes.
But, even with all of those guys out, the team clearly is dealing with huge blowback and the same issues that lead to them getting absolutely manhandled by the Dallas Mavericks in Game 7 in 2022.
Ayton looks like he has no chemistry with the guys anymore and has been given a lane to succeed but seems to just disappear. He has not been a dominant force since he was drafted since their NBA Finals run in the 2020-21 season. It’s just time to trade him. With how the team looks and all of the issues, they have to move him. Like right now. He looks unamused and the team seems to not be as cohesive with him as they did the last few years.
Before I keep going, the game against the Nets was awesome, and we saw a glimpse of how well this team could play. Ayton (24,14,4), Bridges (28, 2, 9), and Cameron Johnson (19, 6, 2) were money as well as Saben Lee (15, 3, 6). Yeah you didn’t realize he came back into the league right? But, they almost blew a 21-point lead and barely won. Nonetheless, it shows there’s a chance the Suns could be back but I don’t know how sustainable this will be until Booker comes back.
The Suns are currently 19th in scoring in the league; last year, they were top 3 in offense. And this team looks like they don’t know how to play basketball anymore. Plus, with Booker always being hurt, the team looks completely lost without him.
SO, FOR THE GOOD OF THE TEAM, James Jones: make a fucking move. Trade for someone…anyone. The KD trade fell through and hurt the team, getting rid of Jalen Smith looked bad, and not drafting Tyrese Haliburton is biting us in the ass. Go get someone and only focus on keeping Booker and Bridges (even though he does not look good defensively this year). I personally think they should go all in to get Pascal Siakam. And like I said, do whatever it takes.
Granted, I know all of these players are coming back soon and maybe things will turn around. But, as it stands, I can already see the white ping pong balls spinning in the wheel and another lottery pick that will probably fail.
